Warner Bros. is Looking to Bring Back The Matrix - Updated
Just how far behind the coney hole will we go on this time?
The groundbreaking liberal arts sci-fi action movie franchise is looking to make a return to the cinemas, reported to an article by The Hollywood Newsman. Sources have indicated that Warner Bros., the studio behind the Matrix trilogy, is looking for to relaunch its iconic enfranchisement.
Zak Penn, who has worked on numerous scripts for superhero and sci-fi movies in the past times, is being targeted to write a treatment. At this target, the Wachowskis, who directed and wrote all three previous movies, are not involved. Their past movie, Jupiter Ascending, was a business failure, earning $184 million worldwide on a budget of $176 million.
Keanu Reeves has, in the past, claimed that He would be open to doing further Matrix movies – but only if the Wachowskis continued to spell and direct. If they'rhenium non involved, the best fans could hope for would be a cameo from the star.
The Matrix was released in 1999 and grossed over $450 meg worldwide. It was fountainhead received by both audiences and critics, and smooth went on to win tetrad Academy Awards. It was followed by cardinal sequels released in 2003, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, both of which made a lot of money but were non received A well by the consultation.
Eastern Samoa Army for the Liberation of Rwanda as I'm concerned, The Matrix placid holds up pretty well and this potential reboot is unnecessary – if they'atomic number 75 just going to make out The Ground substance again. On the strange hand, if it takes a different direction – telling different types of stories and using the Matrix equally a backdrop, even within the creative films' continuity – then it could be a very profitable decision, some financially and artistically. I just hope they call it "The Matrix Rebooted."
What are your thoughts?

Update: Zak Penn took to Twitter to say that atomic number 2, to a fault, doesn't privation to reboot or remake The Matrix at this clip. Given that he's supposedly piece of writing the treatment, that gives us few reading as to where the franchise is aim.
All I can enounce at this point is no one could or should REBOOT the Matrix. People who bed Animatrix and the comics understand.— Zak Penn (@zakpenn) March 15, 2017
Can't comment yet except to say that the words "reboot" and "remake" were from an article. Rent out's stop responding to inaccurate news.— Zak Penn (@zakpenn) March 17, 2017
If I were going to recast Keanu Reeves, I would honk Keanu Reeves.— Zak Penn (@zakpenn) Mar 17, 2017
How more or less sensible re-release the matrix? Don't reboot it, you can't coif better.— Zak Penn (@zakpenn) Border district 17, 2017
Practise I want to see more stories set in the universe of the matrix? Yes. Because it's a brilliant musical theme that generates expectant stories.— Zak Penn (@zakpenn) Butt 17, 2017
