These little bacon cream cheese crescent rolls are so simple to make, have minimal ingredients, and are packed with flavor! This recipe is part of our holiday traditions, especially during cold weather months, when a couple extra pounds never hurt anyone.
Oh, the bacon cream cheese rolls. For the back story, my hubby and I actually dated back in middle & high school and this recipe goes back to the original Smithson house. His mom came up with the recipe or found it somewhere and has been making it for the last 20 years that I've been around. Ugh, I'm getting old. Bacon cream cheese rolls are not just a surprise item that pops up randomly at events, but they are expected on every major Holiday. If you don't have the ingredients on Thanksgiving and Christmas, you are basically shunned from the family.
Ingredients for Bacon Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls:
- Original bacon (do not do different flavor, maple, etc) – 6 strips of bacon (cut into smaller pieces) or go with 8-9 strips if everyone in your family picks at it, like they do at our house
- (1) 8 ounce cream cheese-softened/room temp.
- (1) 8 ounce roll of Pillsbury original crescents
- 1 tablespoon chives (minced)
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon pepper
How to make them:
Now, DO IT. Have ever seen the remake of Starsky and Hutch? I'm saying this like Ben Stiller as when typing... DO IT!
- Preheat oven to 350. *Make sure you didn't hide any cookie sheets in the oven from the prior night. Does anyone else get lazy & do this or is it just me? My house gets smokey once in a while, but I will never learn.
- Cut the bacon up into smaller pieces and pan fry until just a bit crispy. Cooking Tip: I love cutting bacon with sharp kitchen shears for this recipe rather than using a knife.
- Place the cooked bacon onto a paper towel covered plate to remove some of the grease.
- Mix the chives, bacon, salt and pepper, and cream cheese together in a bowl.
- Spread out the crescents into one flat rectangle piece and carefully smooth out the pre-cut edge a bit, trying not to push too hard onto the cutting board or table. Gently, spread the cream cheese and bacon mixture onto it. Carefully roll it into a log shape.
- Cut it into one inch circles and place each roll onto a cookie sheet (Please watch the video for this. It explains it a lot better to us visual learners) Each individual roll should look almost like a mini circular cinnamon roll, where you can see the cream cheese spread rolled up into it. I'm currently drooling.
- Now, cook these little loves in the oven for 13 minutes. Don't leave in much longer or the bottoms will get burnt and it will break your heart.
What's your favorite family recipes? I would love to know in the comments.

These little bacon cream cheese crescent rolls are so simple to make, have minimal ingredients, and are packed with flavor! This recipe is part of our holiday traditions, especially during cold weather months, when a couple extra pounds never hurt anyone.
- Original bacon (do not do different flavor, maple, etc) – 6 strips of bacon (cut into smaller pieces) or go with 8-9 strips if everyone in your family picks at it, like they do at mine
- (1) 8 ounce cream cheese-softened/room temp.
- (1) 8 ounce roll of Pillsbury original crescents
- 1 tablespoon chives (minced)
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
You also need a cookie sheet.
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Cut the bacon up into smaller pieces and pan fry at medium low heat until just a bit crispy. Now put your bacon on a paper towel covered plate to drain grease.
- Mix the chives, bacon, salt and pepper, and cream cheese together in a bowl.
- Spread out the crescent package into one flat rectangle piece and carefully smooth out the pre-cut edge, trying not to push down to hard. We don't want it sticking to the cutting board or table.
- Now spread the cream cheese and bacon mixture onto it. Carefully roll it into a log shape. Then cut it into one inch circles and place each roll onto cookie sheet. (Please watch the video for this. It explains it a lot better to us visual learners) Each individual roll should look like a mini cinnamon roll where you can see the cream cheese spread rolled up in a swirl like pattern.
